With the best pedal stiffness-to-weight ratio of any bike in its class and an aero tube design, this frameset is engineered to give racers superior climbing ability, aerodynamic efficiency and sprint stiffness for race-winning performance.
Improved Aerodynamics
This is where the TCR has the most quantifiable improvements over previous models. Each tube shape has been analyzed, developed and tested to create an overall structure with significantly lower drag over a wider range of yaw angles.
Full control
Integrated disc brakes deliver smooth, powerful stopping power and modulation for added control in changing weather and road conditions. Flat suspensions and new thru axles increase stiffness and improve overall handling, while additional clearance in the frame and fork allows the use of tires up to 32 mm in diameter.
Advanced SL Composite Technology
This highest grade carbon fiber is used to create an exclusive composite frame material that is woven and processed in-house. Carbon nanotube technology (CNT) involves adding a microscopic polymer to GIANT's special resin blend. These CNT particles act as miniature-sized support pillars, strengthening the composite layers. Frames treated with CNT have 14 times the impact resistance of frames without CNT and are up to 100 g lighter.
Compact Road Design
Introduced by GIANT with professional team ONCE in the 1990s, the Compact Road design revolutionized the look of high-performance road bikes forever. A downward sloping top tube creates smaller front and rear triangles for a lighter, stiffer bike. It facilitates the perfect fit for riders of all sizes.
Integrated seatpost
Designed as a key performance factor throughout the frame, the integrated seatpost saves up to 45 grams over standard composite posts while improving aerodynamics and vibration damping.
MegaDrive
The MegaDrive downtube increases the combination with the Overdrive/ Overdrive 2 the frame stiffness. The diameter of the down tube is increased as much as possible. Due to the low wall thicknesses, the MegaDrive down tube is still very light.
Powercore
The PowerCore bottom bracket shell is another item that contributes to Giant's high frame stiffness. The wide fit of the bottom bracket shells and the good connection around MegaDrive down tube increase the frame stiffness.
